Wendy Swain has been sculpting in various mediums for the last twelve years –first in the studio of Sara Aldouby in Trumbull, where she began working in clay and then moved on to alabaster. Wendy then studied under Marc Anthony Massaro at the Guilford Handcraft Center and the Branford Art Studio. She has also studied with Steffi Friedman in Westport, but now is at the New Canaan studio in Waveny Park under the tutelage of Sergey Eyelenbekov. She is mostly interested in the human figure –especially relationships between people.

Wendy had a 23-year career as a teacher of French and Spanish in Fairfield, CT, Oak Ridge, TN, Bogota, Colombia, and Stratford, CT. She has always had a great interest in art, and her degrees from Boston University and the University of Arizona included art history as her minor. She loves to travel and visit museums around the world with her husband, Bob. She loves opening her grandchildren’s eyes to the beauty and art in nature at her home in Stratford.

Her work has been exhibited with the Society of Connecticut Sculptors at the Lockwood Matthews Mansion, the 9th Street Gallery in New Haven and Branford House at Avery Point in Groton. Juried shows include the Acton Library in Old Saybrook and a one woman show at the Case Memorial Library in Orange. Wendy leads power point presentations on the sculpture in Central Park and the Huntingtons, as well as, actual walking tours of the sculpture in Central Park for small groups. Additionally, she worked as the Newsletter Editor for SCS for over six years.
