Linda McMillan
Linda has been a resident of western Connecticut since early childhood, with periods of residence in the Washington, DC/VA area, the San Francisco Bay area, and Reno, NV, before returning to the welcoming inspiration of the Litchfield Hills. In each location she has lived, Linda has found the local arts and cultures vibrant and inspirational, which has furthered her personal journey of artistic discovery and exploration. She is an award-winning artist whose work has been exhibited in many galleries and shows, including the Salmagundi Club, the Mattatuck Museum, and various other venues in Connecticut, Washington D.C., as well as on the west coast.
Linda enjoys creating expressive work through mainly figural ceramic sculpture. Her current artistic focus is on the human experience, emphasizing mood and emotion. She aims for viewers to connect with these elements and reflect on their own responses and personal connections. Additionally, she enjoys exploring the concept that mood acts as a bridge across cultures and history.
Linda’s artistic journey has been diverse, spanning several mediums but always with similar themes. Initially inspired by Renaissance and Mannerist artists through black-and-white photographs in old books, these influences gradually became more pronounced in her art. About five years ago, she began working with ceramic clays, which answered many artistic questions for her as an artist. It is now her primary medium.
Linda is an artist member of the Connecticut Women Artists, Inc., and a newer member of the Society of Connecticut Sculptors in which she is looking forward to becoming an active member.
